Frequently asked questions

We answer the most common questions before you start your legal process.

What documents do I need to bring from my country of origin before traveling to Panama?
For any immigration process, it is vital that the original documents are duly apostilled (or authenticated by the Panamanian consulate in your country) and valid for no more than 3 or 6 months (depending on the document). The basic documents are: Police Record (Criminal Record): From your country of origin or where you have resided for the last two years. Birth and Marriage Certificates: If you are traveling with dependents (children or spouse).

It is advisable to conduct due diligence on the property you wish to acquire, which includes reviewing the Public Registry, the property’s history, liens, mortgages, taxes, and the seller’s legal status.

What is the difference between a Public Limited Company and a Private Interest Foundation?

A corporation (S.A.) is primarily used for commercial and business activities. A private interest foundation (FIP) is used for asset protection, estate planning, and asset management; it cannot be used for commercial activities.
